St. John's Baptist Church really began in the hearts of the people long before its first worship service was held. They held a sincere belief that traditional forms of worship and interpretation of the Bible were not only God-honoring but also mandated by Scripture. This group agreed that there was a place in the Greater Greenville area for a Baptist church with a passion for a time-honored understanding of God's Word coupled with a traditional worship style.

In early March of 2007, a small group began to meet in homes to pray and seek God's leadership in organizing a new church that would honor Him. The name "St. John's" was selected to reflect a desire to have a church "where love and tradition unite". Groveland Baptist Church agreed to rent space to the new congregation and the first service was held on March 11, 2007.

Since that time, St. John's has continued to grow and has expanded its ministries. These ministries include a Sanctuary Choir, Prayer Ministry, Outreach, Missions, and Educational Ministry. The Educational Ministry includes a nursery as well as children's, youth, and adult Sunday School classes. It is our continual prayer that because of the faithful witness of St. John's Baptist Church many would come to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
